10 Weeks on the Trinity: The Dream Team

Dr. Matthew Barrett would like to introduce you to the Trinitarian Dream Team. In his second lecture in the new Trinity Course through the FTC institute, Barrett suggests that if we are to recover the biblical doctrine of the Trinity, then we will need the help of an All-star team. Just such a team stood up to protect orthodox trinitarianism in light of the Arian controversy of the fourth century. Men such as Athanasius, Augustine, and the Cappodocian Fathers can help us rediscover a true biblical understanding of the trinity. Alongside these men we may also confess that the son is “true light from true light” and “very God of very God.”  Rather than promoting a subordination within the trinity as their opponents did, these men helped articulate a view of God as a simple, undivided being – simply trinity.

Join Dr. Barrett to learn key trinitarian concepts, which can safeguard us from future trinity drift and help us find our way home to a biblical and orthodox understanding of the Trinity. Sign up for the full course through the For the Church Institute. And if you enjoy this first lecture then read chapter 2 of his book, Simply Trinity: The Unmanipulated Father, Son, and Spirit (Baker).
