Is “Catholic Protestant” an oxymoron? What does Protestantism have to offer to a generation of Christians hungry for tradition and warm-hearted catholicity? In this episode, Sam Parkison interviews Wyatt Graham, Executive Director of the Davenant Institute, to discuss the promise of wholesome Protestantism for our age. Numerous caricatures about Protestantism are entertained today, many of which move Christians to lose hope in Protestantism altogether. Protestantism, however, is not a novelty that came into existence when Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses on the Wittenberg door. It did not pop up out of nowhere in the 16th century. It is deeply rooted in the history of the classical tradition. The Reformers quoted extensively from the church fathers in their debate with Roman Catholics, and they saw themselves as heirs to the catholic tradition of the apostles and church fathers, even the best of the medieval scholastics. In this episode of the Credo podcast, Sam Parkison and Wyatt Graham ask, What makes Protestants truly catholic? They remind us that Protestants are heirs to the Great Tradition, a treasure that is no less theirs to enjoy. Join Sam Parkison and Wyatt Graham as they consider the promise of wholesome, catholic Protestantism for the church today.
