Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

Who am I to Judge? The Pope, the Press, and the Predicament: By Albert Mohler – Excellent thoughts given by Mohler concerning Pope Francis’ comments on homosexuality. Mohler keenly notes that Pope Francis “was seeking to speak with compassion about people made in the image of God who are struggling with faithfulness against a homosexual inclination.”

No Squishy Love, by Timothy George and Whatever happened to the wrath of God? by Russell Moore – Both of these articles are interesting reads in light of the fact that the PCUSA has decided to leave the hymn “In Christ Alone” out of the church’s hymnal. Timothy George rightly notes: “Sin, judgment, cross, even Christ have become problematic terms in much contemporary theological discourse, but nothing so irritates and confounds as the idea of divine wrath.” Russell Moore elaborates on George’s position and offers great insight: “When Christians sing about the wrath of God, we are singing about ourselves. Our consciences point us to the truth that, left to ourselves, we are undone.”

A Key Sign that You Are Maturing as a Preacher: By Michael J. Kruger – What is the indication that one is improving as a preacher of the Word of God? In this article, Dr. Kruger provides commentary on how to prepare a sermon.

3 Distinctive Aspects of Biblical Faith: By R.C. Sproul – Here is a very helpful piece on what the Bible truly means when it discusses faith.

Reason for Your Hope: Scott Oliphint on a Fresh Approach: By Matt Smethurst– An interview with Scott Oliphint about his book, Covenantal Apologetics. Addresses an interesting question: “Can an Arminian be a presuppositionalist?”

Matt Manry is the Director of Discipleship at Life Bible Church in Canton, Georgia. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion at Reformed Theological Seminary and a Masters of Arts in Christian and Classical Studies from Knox Theological Seminary. He blogs regularly at gospelglory.net.
