Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

1. It’s Not Too LateBy David Mathis – Mathis says: “Here, at God’s right hand, sits our final hope. Not in our accountability, or our resolves, and definitely not in our willpower. Not in our record in the past, nor our ability in the present, nor our potential in the future. Our great hope lies not in ourselves, but outside of us, in Christ, who has overcome, and in whom we too will overcome.”

2. How to Find a MentorBy Russell Moore – Moore notes: “If there’s someone you respect and you might like to be mentored, offer to help. By that, I don’t mean offer to preach or to lecture or to run his office. I mean mention that you would love to be of help if he needs some research tracked down, or someone to drive to a speaking event, or someone to help navigate computer issues, or whatever.”

3. The Secret to Making Kingdom CitizensBy Zachary Lee – Lee says: “Discipleship flows from the gospel message. Until we teach this larger Kingdom message we will never make the kind of disciples we were meant to. In fact, the reason the church produces converts and not disciples is because we preach a gospel that produces converts and not disciples—we preach an individualistic gospel of justification by faith instead of a holistic gospel of God’s Kingdom.”

4. If You Want to Destroy Your Church, Follow Liberal’s AdviceBy David French – French says: “What does all this mean for the American church? In the short–to–medium term, it means more cultural conflict and more cultural division — with only one certain path to extinction: theological liberalization and cultural conformity. Yes, there are liberals who ‘long’ for the church to change. But that’s because they long for it to disappear.”

5. Passive Aggressive Dissent: It’s a TrapBy John Mark Reynolds– Reynolds says: “If you want to dissent and have a career, with very little work, you need a belief that Evangelicals reject, but American secular elites accept.”
