Rosaria Butterfield: Repentance and Renewal
Today one of the most pressing issues Christians must address is the topic of sexuality. One author who has addressed our culture’s view of sexuality, pulling from her own life experience, is Rosaria Butterfield. She is the author of The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert: An English Professor’s Journey Into Christian Faith and Openness Unhindered: Further Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert on Sexual Identity and Union with Christ. Butterfield openly and honestly describes her former life as a lesbian and how she came to know and love Christ. Justin Taylor has this to say about her book:
“Rosaria Butterfield is a gift from God to the church. She brings together so many rare combinations of courage and compassion, provocation and wisdom, profundity and accessibility. Virtually every page of this new book overflows with insights on sexual identity, our disordered rebellion, and what it means to commune with the Triune God to whom we are united. Take to heart, this book will change not only conversations but the very way we live before God.”
Today we want to point you to four videos. The first, “Repentance and Renewal,” is the message she gave at Ligonier’s 2015 conference. The second is the Q&A at the Ligonier conference. The third is a google hangout she recently participated in, discussing the topic “Sexuality and the Christian Faith.” Here she discusses sexuality, our culture’s objection to biblical morality, and what it looks like for Christians to speak the truth in love. The fourth is a panel discussion hosted by the ERLC called “Is It Okay To Be Gay? A Candid Conversation on Christians and Same-Sex Attraction.”
