Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

1. Mercy Would Make America Great: Vince Miller – Miller says, “In conversations about candidates, policies, and platforms, we should follow Jesus’s example, and ask good questions to try and understand the reasons for our neighbors’ deeply held beliefs. Make an effort to understand how they came to their conclusions and convictions, and then reason with a respectful attitude. Put on the impartial compassion of a Good American.”

2. On Consumeristic Worship: Dustin Rouse – Rouse notes, “I understand we have preferences and I’m not trying to belittle that, but I am calling on us to lay down our preferences for the sake of unity of the body. We have a great privilege in gathering to worship. I pray that we can let the glory of God – who He is and what He’s done – fuel our worship and drive out divisiveness; for the day is coming when every tribe, tongue, and nation will be singing a song to the Lamb who sits on the throne.”

3. Have You Met Augustine the Evangelist?: Paul Sanchez – Sanchez says, “Augustine spoke with conviction, compassion, and urgency. Christians need these traits today. The caricature of the fire-and-brimstone evangelist lingers, but Augustine represents an ancient model for us today. His message was clear and uncompromising: For a time, God’s offer of grace exists. But this offer will expire, and everyone without Jesus will perish.”

4. Dominion Commission: Joey Tomlinson – Tomlinson says, “God through Jesus has restored his image to his church and has reconciled us to himself for his glory. Furthermore, he has reasserted our purpose to have dominion on the earth—for his glory. We do this by faithfully heralding the good news of the gospel in the authority of Jesus Christ.”

5. Four Reasons to Pray for Your Pastor Daily: Jason K. Allen – Allen notes, “Any man can take the title pastor, and too many men have. Only those called of God can rightly shepherd his flock. If God has given you such a man, you have been blessed indeed. Make sure and bless him—and yourself—by praying for him daily. Pastor appreciation Sunday comes around one week a year. Why don’t you show your appreciation daily by praying for God’s man?”
