Preaching the Unsearchable Riches of Christ

By Timothy Raymond –

From time to time the Credo blog will seek to point its readers to some of the most helpful sermons we’re aware of. We’ll be doing this, firstly, to encourage your own pursuit of holiness, and secondly, to provide models of the kinds of preaching we believe most needful in the contemporary church.

Today’s offering comes from Dr. John MacArthur, Pastor-Teacher of Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, CA, for over 40 years, President of The Masters College & Seminary, daily preacher on Grace to You, and author of over 100 books.

The sermon we’ve selected is entitled “An Empty Tomb with an Angelic Explanation”, an exposition of Luke 24:1-12.  The reason for highlighting this particular message is because it is the single best brief resource I am aware of reconciling the apparent differences in the 4 Gospel accounts of Jesus’ resurrection.  MacArthur is so clear and simple in explaining why the 4 different accounts are simply 4 different perspectives on the same event, one wonders why there’s so much debate over the differing details.  This is certainly a faith-strengthening sermon we heartily recommend.  And with Easter fast approaching, we thought it might be additionally appropriate.  Enjoy!
