Books At a Glance

Fred Zaspel has been a contributor to Credo Magazine since its inception. So we were very excited when he told us about a new service he is providing called Books At a Glance. Here is what Books At a Glance is all about:

Why didn’t someone think of this sooner? If you love books, your greatest frustration is keeping up – “So many books; So little time!” we say. Books At a Glance is a new online service designed to relieve this frustration, and in doing so it provides a much-needed service.

“Executive summaries” is a familiar concept in the business world, and this is what Books At a Glance now does for Christian readers. Their book summaries condense the leading argument(s) of a book, chapter by chapter, into a mere 7 – 10 pages. This enables you to keep informed and up to date and widen your learning in minutes, without infringing on your schedule. And of course it will help you know which books you want to purchase for a deeper understanding of the book’s topic. You can check them out at www.BooksAtaGlance.com.

In addition to book summaries, BooksAtaGlance.com also offers book reviews, author interviews, and a blog, and their list of resources grows daily.

The board of reference includes:

Thabiti Anyabwile, Matthew Barrett, D. A. Carson, Jason DeRouchie, Kevin DeYoung, James Hamilton, Michael A.G. Haykin, Phil Johnson, Andy Naselli, Tom Nettles, Steve Nichols, Thomas R. Schreiner, Justin Taylor, Carl Trueman, and Fred Zaspel.

Here are a couple of endorsements:

“Keeping up to date with trends and knowing which books are worth reading is time consuming and, in the current information-saturated age, increasingly impossible. The use of quality book summaries and book reviews can be very helpful in discerning both general trends and also which volumes are worthy of careful study. Books at a glance looks set to be a great tool for exactly these tasks.” —Carl TruemanProfessor of Church History, Westminster Theological Seminary

“Of making many books there is no end” (Eccles. 12:12). If that was true in Solomon’s day, how much more true is it today in the 21st century! Even the best of us can only read a tiny fraction of what is written. If we want to “make the best use of our time” (Eph. 5:16), we could use some help so that we don’t waste our reading. I thank God, therefore, for ministries like “Books At a Glance,” designed to guide us to choose our reading wisely. From summaries to reviews to interviews, I expect this to be a key resource to help me know what is out there and what to read next.” —Justin Taylor, Publisher for books, Crossway Blogger, “Between Two Worlds”
