Reformation in the Wings: Far West Regional ETS

11912-rawThis Friday, April 10th, California Baptist University (Riverside, CA) will be hosting the Far West Regional ETS conference. The conference looks very promising, with Timothy George, Dean of Beeson Divinity School, giving two plenary addresses. The titles of each are as follows:

“The Reformation as Tragic Necessity”

“William Tyndale: Translator, Theologian, Martyr”

Having read George’s second edition of A Theology of the Reformers, I am especially looking forward to the second address which I imagine depends upon his added chapter on Tyndale in the new edition of his volume.

You can look at the entire schedule here. I look forward to delivering a paper at the conference titled: “The Holy Spirit Is No Skeptic: Retrieving the Clarity of Scripture from a Forgotten Reformation Debate.” Parts of the paper will piggyback off of my forthcoming God’s Word Alone: The Authority of Scripture (Zondervan, 2016).

Also, among many others, CBU professor Jeff Cate will be presenting a paper titled: “Martin Luther and Sola Scriptura: Canon, Manuscripts, and Translation.”

Hope to see you there!
