Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

1. The Bad and Good News of Immanuel: David Shrock – Shrock says, “In actuality, we often jump to the good news of Christmas without giving proper attention to the bad news. As a result, we blunt the mercy of the gospel and the magnitude of our praise.”

2. Hope is A Good Thing: Jason Garwood – Garwood says, “What Christians hold on to during Advent is not fuzzy feelings of the past. We don’t celebrate Advent because God did something real nice once before. We take time to celebrate Christ’s coming because of a real, robust resurrection hope.”

3. When The Church Stings Her Pastor: Greg Spires – Spires says, “Brothers, in the sting of hurt we enter the water with Jesus. With the wound from a friend bleeding out, we lift a cup with our savior and drink together. Friends, this is good company to keep.”

4. We Need a Real King: Brandon D. Smith –  Smith says, “He’s the King we need because he’s the king we can never be, never find, and never elect. Our search was over before it began. He’s the answer to every question. He’s the King we’re longing for, and the King we already have.”

5. The Manger: A Sign For the SufferingVeneetha Rendall – Rendall says, “The manger highlights the way God uses our deepest pain, our humiliation, the things we wish were different, the despised and the lowly, to bring him the greatest glory. God’s kingdom is upside down. The last shall be first, the weak shall be strong, and the foolish shall shame the wise.”
