10 Weeks on the Trinity: Back to the Future

Dr. Matthew Barrett is inviting you to travel with him back in time in order to help shape our theological future. In his first lecture in the new Trinity Course through the FTC institute, Barrett reveals a shocking discovery: we are experiencing Trinity drift. We have rejected key doctrines like eternal generation. When the deity of Christ was questioned in the fourth century, the church fathers gathered in Nicaea to confess that if the Son is not begotten from the Father’s essence from all eternity then the Son is not equal to the Father in divinity. But not only have we neglected core doctrines of a biblical, orthodox Trinity, we have also redefined the Trinity in the image of our own society. And to make matters worse, we have manipulated the Trinity for every social agenda under the sun.

Join Dr. Barrett to learn key trinitarian concepts, which can safeguard us from future trinity drift and help us find our way home to a biblical and orthodox understanding of the Trinity. Sign up for the full course through the For the Church Institute. And if you enjoy this first lecture then read chapter 1 of his book, Simply Trinity: The Unmanipulated Father, Son, and Spirit (Baker).
