What is the Beatific Vision?

The beatific vision is the ultimate creaturely experience, when we see God in heaven. Few doctrines are as universal throughout church history and yet as misunderstood and neglected today as the beatific vision, according to Gavin Ortlund. In this video he seeks to clarify what the beatific vision means.

And in case you missed it, Gavin will be joining us for the Credo Conference on the Beatific Vision April 24-25, 2026 in Washington, D.C. where he will be speaking and leading a break out session on Anselm. Read more about the conference and register today by clicking here.
