Jordan Cooper: The Beatific Vision as participation in Divine Love

If the beatific vision is the mind’s eye seeing the divine essence, then what does the beatific vision have to do with love? Could it be that the beatific vision is nothing less than a participation in the love of God? In this Credo conference message, Jordan Cooper explores what participation in the love of God will be like and asks how that love transforms us both then and even in some respects now. As a Lutheran theologian, Cooper also puts forward a synthesis from Augustine to Gerhard to Sartorius to understand how different corners of the Great Tradition have articulated love in the beatific vision.
