In the past, Reformed thinkers taught that God has two kingdoms. What are these two kingdoms and how does God exercise his lordship in both differently? What is the difference between our responsibilities as citizens of this world and our mission as Christians in the church? Is there a Christian way to go about commerce, music, or sports? How does a two kingdom viewpoint change the way a Christian sees and helps the world’s needs?

In this new episode of the Credo podcast, Matthew Barrett is joined by David VanDrunen to discuss the two kingdom viewpoint and the mission of the church.

Dr. David VanDrunen (PhD, Loyola University Chicago) is Robert B. Strimple Professor of Systematic Theology and Christian Ethics at Westminster Seminary California, where he has served since 2001. He is a minister of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and the author or editor of many books including Bioethics and the Christian Life: A Guide to Making Difficult Decisions, Living in God’s Kingdoms: A Biblical Vision for Christianity and Culture, Natural Law and the Two Kingdoms: A Study in the Development of Reformed Social Thought, Divine Covenants and Moral Order: A Biblical Theology of Natural Law, and God’s Glory Alone: The Majestic Heart of Christian Faith and Life.
