The Revival of Classical Education

Volume 15, Issue 2, 2024

Education’s brightest future is grounded in its ancient past. Classical education, in which students are formed by the Great Books and classical virtues, is experiencing a renaissance. It’s true, the difference between a classical model of education and its modern counterparts could not be more stark, but the contributors to this issue of Credo Magazine recommend the classical model most of all for its holistic formation of its students. In a world that is growing increasingly mechanized or animalistic, even secular, classical education sets out to form virtuous people, people who are as wise as they are genuine. Classical education inherent strength is its foundation, grounding itself in the world that truly is – the world of the good, the true, and the beautiful. To that end, we hope more students and teachers alike will come to embrace the model that shapes real people for the real world.
